What to ask Verity: useful chat questions (and what to avoid)

Published 2026-09-20

Talking to Verity is not decoration — the chat is a real gameplay tool. Because Verity is given information about the world around you, you can ask it genuinely useful questions. Press T to open the chat and type.

Questions that actually help

Why Verity can answer

Verity is an AI, not a fixed script. The game feeds it context — the mobs currently loaded, your health and hunger — and it replies in natural language, spoken aloud. That is why it can respond to things the developers never wrote a line for, and why it sometimes says something that catches you off guard.

What to avoid

Chat has an effect on Verity’s mood. Calm, ordinary questions keep it in its friendly state. Hostile, taunting or threatening messages can push its sanity down and make it more dangerous, especially at night. There is no upside to provoking it early on — you are only making your own world harder.

A good habit

Ask one useful question each morning: check for mobs, check your hunger, then get on with the day. It costs a few seconds and it will save you from walking into a zombie in the dark. For the bigger picture, read our guide to Verity’s emotions.
