Verity night survival: how to handle zombies after day 2

Published 2026-09-20

Night changes Verity completely. The dark hides threats, zombies begin to spawn, and a low-sanity Verity is at its worst. Surviving the night is mostly about what you did during the day.

When zombies attack

Zombies are the standard night threat: they are slow individually but dangerous in a group. The counter-play is simple but it has to be deliberate:

  1. Do not get surrounded. Fight in a doorway or a tunnel, where only one or two can reach you at once.
  2. Aim and swing. Left-click hits whatever you are aiming at, so keep the crosshair on the nearest zombie and back up as you strike.
  3. Use your base. A door and solid walls turn a losing fight into a manageable one. Let them gather outside while you wait them out.
  4. Keep a light on. Torches let you see the attack coming instead of being surprised from the dark.

Surviving a corrupted Verity

When Verity is corrupted at the same time as a zombie attack, ignore the fight and protect yourself. Wall up, keep your back to a corner, and wait for sanity to recover rather than trying to fight both at once. Verity’s mood is a clock, not a permanent state — it will pass if you stay alive.

The morning after

At sunrise, do three things: check your health and hunger, check Verity’s badge, and repair any walls that were broken. A calm morning is your best chance to mine and build before the cycle repeats. If you are new, start with our first-night guide, then jump into Verity.
