Verity on Roblox: what the horror game is and how a run works
Published 2026-09-20
The Verity trend did not stay on Minecraft. A Roblox horror game based on the same idea brought the yellow AI assistant to a much wider audience, and it plays quite differently from the mods.
The premise
You are given a personal assistant named Verity, a yellow sphere who claims to know everything. The game frames the arrival as a story event — a box, a warning, and a promise that something bad is coming. From there, the familiar arc plays out: help, familiarity, and then a turn.
How a run is structured
- Early tasks. You are given tools and asked to gather resources — chopping trees and mining stone — much like the opening of a survival game.
- Building objectives. You are encouraged to construct things such as a house and a tower, which doubles as a tutorial and as the setup for later events.
- Collecting the story. A key part of the run is finding hidden story items (books and similar) that fill in what Verity really is.
- The turn. As the days advance, Verity changes and the game shifts toward a tense finale.
How long does it take?
A first, blind playthrough generally runs about an hour — roughly 45 to 60 minutes. Once you know what to do, that shrinks considerably, and a focused run that skips the optional story hunt is faster still.
How it differs from the Minecraft mods
- Single-player story. You play your own run, even though the server holds many players.
- No setup. There is nothing to install or configure, which is why it is the easiest way to try the concept.
- Atmospheric, not gory. The fear comes from being watched and from the final chase rather than from graphic content.
A browser alternative
If you want the “helper that might turn” idea without a platform account, CrocoGames’ own free game Verity is a voxel horror sandbox with a talking AI, a sanity meter and night-time zombies. It is an original project and not connected to the Roblox game or the Minecraft series.
CrocoGames is not affiliated with ThatMob, Mojang, Microsoft or Roblox.
