Verity mining guide: where to find diamonds and how to craft diamond gear

Diamonds are the rarest and most useful material in Verity. They make the best tools, and they double as the item you feed to a restless AI. Knowing how to mine efficiently is what separates a two-night run from a long survival world.

Step 1: build the tool chain in order

You cannot skip the early tools. Chop wood, craft a wooden pickaxe, then use it to mine stone until you have enough cobblestone for a stone pickaxe. Only a stone pickaxe (and later a diamond one) mines efficiently enough to make a deep trip worthwhile.

Step 2: gather the basics before you dig deep

Step 3: dig safely

Never dig straight down without a plan. Dig a staircase or a two-block shaft so you always have a way back up. Carry torches and place them as you go — both so you can see and so you can find your route home. Mine in short branches from a central tunnel rather than wandering; that way one wrong turn never gets you lost.

Step 4: turn diamonds into gear

Do not forget their second use

Diamonds also restore Verity’s sanity. Feeding one with a right click gives a large +20 boost, which can pull the AI back from a corrupted state. The smart play is to keep one diamond spare and spend the rest on a pickaxe. See the sanity guide for when to feed it.
