Verity controls: every key, mouse action and touch control

Verity uses a small set of controls, but two of them are easy to miss: the inventory and the shop. This is the full list so you are never stuck wondering how to craft or how to talk to the AI.

Movement and looking

W A S D — move (AZERTY keyboards also work with Z Q S D).
Arrow keys — move as an alternative to WASD.
Mouse — look around. Click the game once to lock the pointer.
Space — jump.
Shift — sprint.

Mining, building and interacting

Left click — mine a block, or attack a mob you are aiming at.
Right click — place the selected block, or give a diamond to Verity when you are looking at it (restores sanity).
1 – 9 — select a slot on the hotbar.

Menus and chatting

E — open or close your inventory (this is where crafting happens).
B — open or close the Verity Shop.
T — open the chat to type a message to Verity.
Escape — close the shop, the inventory or the chat, and open the pause menu.

Mobile and touch controls

On a phone or tablet, touch controls appear automatically: a virtual stick on the left to move and a drag area on the right to look. Tap to mine or attack, and use the on-screen buttons to jump, open the inventory, open the shop and open the chat.

Two controls worth learning early

E and B are the ones new players forget. You need the inventory to turn wood into planks and tools (see our crafting guide), and you need the shop to claim skins and extra diamonds. Once those two keys are muscle memory, the rest of Verity becomes much easier.
